First of all I am going to apologize for the lack of updates… I made the classic mistake of thinking that I was going to have plenty of time to blog while on vacation… FAIL!!
I had tons of free time but it was all spent sitting on a beautiful front porch, sipping something (coffee or wine, depending on the time of day) and solving the worlds problems, one sip at a time.
It.was.perfect…
Except I didn’t blog at all.
So one last time, I’m sorry, there I’m done.
After the Biltmore Estate, we headed up the mountain to our camp for the evening; Campfire Lodgings Campground… It was WONDERFUL!!!! We are adding this spot to our top 10 camps of all time. We ended up spending so much time at the Biltmore that we didn’t arrive until a little after 5pm. There was plenty of light to set up camp but we wished that we had a little more time to explore that evening.
We booked on of the premium sites that overlooks the valley, it was beautiful!! It was a level site with a poured cement pad, a picnic table and a fire ring. The staff were extremely helpful and even though it was after hours when we were setting up, they sold us wood so we could have a fire that evening.
We built a fire, well Tavis started building the fire.
Aiden and I helped for a little while.
But Aiden has a short attention span. I ended up building the fire and Tavis watched me from the safety of his chair with a beer in hand…
The next morning we cooked a big breakfast outside.
Aiden and I practiced “Fishy kisses”
Aiden got to help the owners feed their turkeys.
We had a little time to explore the trails that the campground maintains and get some energy out before we broke camp and started north along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Over all it was a wonderful stay and we wished that we had planned enough time to stay there a few nights and not just one.
Enjoyed reading about your trip. No apologies… It’d be hard to look at a screen when you have that view, not to mention all that time available to spend with Aiden. Very cute and looks like he’s having a time. I look forward to reading your back posts and following your trip. My wife and I can’t wait to find our Airstream and start wearing it out in Florida and beyond. Thanks for sharing! Safe travels. RIchard
